GUARDIAN : SOLO
The Leisure Craft version is intended to help
protect leisure craft users who may find
themselves alone for protracted periods.
It is often the case that yachtsmen and power
boat owners operate their craft single handed,
or alone in the cockpit / bridge whilst others
remain below. Under these isolated circumstances
it would be advisable to protect the skipper
against incapacity or even man-overboard
situations.
SOLO helps protect Skipper(s) by monitoring
their movements using passive infra red (PIR)
motion detectors. Every time movement is
detected the system timer is reset. If the
Skipper is incapacitated and therefore
motionless, the system times out and activates
the staged alarms…
0-3 Mins / 0-6 Mins / 0-9 Mins / 0-12 Mins
1st Stage – Visual alarm at the
Master & Slave
Control Panels
2nd Stage – Audible alarm at the
Master & Slave
Control Panels
3rd Stage – Remote audible/visual arm
+ trigger to GSM mobile
If at the end of the time period no reset has
been registered the system responds by
activating the 1st stage alarm –
flashing yellow LED and flashing reset button
for 15 seconds.
If the 1st stage alarm is not
acknowledged then the 2nd stage
audible alarm is activated for seconds.
If the 2nd stage alarm is not
acknowledged then the 3rd stage
remote audible / visual (AV) alarm is activated
in the below-decks area. A signal is also sent
to activate the optional GSM modem and a SMS
text message is sent to the programmed number,
this is very useful if working / living on the
boat in a marina.
SOLO has automatic timer resetting (PIRs) plus
manual reset buttons. The manual reset buttons
can also be used as “Call for Assistance” to
immediately summon help when needed.
For added protection, a wireless panic button
facility is included as standard. One long press
(>3s) of the portable key fob transmitter
activates the staged alarms in the same manner
as the “Call for Assistance”. This facility is
very useful should ma-overboard situation arise.
The panic button will alert other crew to the
situation, the 3rd stage could also
be linked into the craft’s engine kill switch or
operate any self steering mechanism if fitted.
